How to Convert Fractions and Decimal Numbers to Percentages

Now you will learn to go from a fraction and decimal to percentages.

Rule

Fraction percent

a 100 = a%

This means that you can change the percentage sign with the fraction 1 100 in the calculation. As in percentage we talk about parts of one hundred, you write it as a decimal by using the tenths and hundredths.

Example 1

Write 0.25 as a fraction and as percentage.

0.25 = 25 100 = 25 : 25 100 : 25 = 1 4 0.25 = 25 100 = 25 1 100 = 25%

Example 2

Write 0.75 as a fraction and as percentage.

0.75 = 75 100 = 75 : 25 100 : 25 = 3 4 0.75 = 75 100 = 75 1 100 = 75%

Example 3

Write 0.20 as a fraction and as percentage.

0.20 = 20 100 = 20 : 20 100 : 20 = 1 5 0.20 = 20 100 = 20 1 100 = 20%

Example 4

Write 0.80 as a fraction and as percentage.

0.80 = 80 100 = 80 : 20 100 : 20 = 4 5 0.80 = 80 100 = 80 1 100 = 80%

Example 5

Write 0.10 as a fraction and as percentage.

0.10 = 10 100 = 10 : 10 100 : 10 = 1 10 0.10 = 10 100 = 10 1 100 = 10%

Example 6

Write 0.37 as a fraction and as percentage.

0.37 = 37 100 0.37 = 37 100 = 37 1 100 = 37%
