Translation of Figures in GeoGebra

GeoGebra can be used to translate figures.

GeoGebra Instruction 1

1.
Open Algebra View and Graphics View under GeoGebra icon View in GeoGebra icon Menu.
2.
Draw an arbitrary figure in the Graphics View by using Polygon GeoGebra icon.
3.
In the Algebra View, type

Translate(Object, Vector)

where you replace Object with the name of the figures and Vector with a vector of the form

(x, y)

The x-value of the vector determines if the figure is translated to the right or left:

  • A positive x-value translates the figure to the right;

  • A negative x-value translates the figure to the left.

The y-value of the vector determines if the figure is translated upward or downward:

  • A positive y-value translates the figure upward;

  • A negative y-value translates the figure downward.
